About M.O.M.

About Music Over Mind Inc.

A North Carolina 501(c)(3) bringing trained musicians to the bedside — positioning music as a non-pharmacologic tool for pain management, anxiety reduction, and mood improvement.

Our Story

From the hospital bedside to a statewide clinical musician network

Classically trained violinist David Scott Binanay founded M.O.M. with a vision of making music a universal tool for healing. What began as one musician playing at the bedside has grown into a network of trained musicians delivering live interventional music programming across North Carolina partner hospitals.

Today, M.O.M. runs clinical programs across the NICU, ICU, oncology, and pediatric / general hospital settings — each placing a trained musician at the bedside, selecting repertoire in real time in response to the patient, the room, and the care environment.

How It Works

How live interventional music works

Live interventional music programming places a trained musician at the bedside, selecting repertoire in real time in response to the patient, the room, and the care environment. The four programs M.O.M. runs today bring that responsive presence to each clinical setting it serves.

NICU

Live interventional music at the NICU bedside — neonate, parent, and unit environment, programmed in real time.

ICU

Response-driven repertoire at the ICU bedside — supporting rest and easing the unit acoustic environment across acute stays.

Oncology

Response-driven bedside sessions during infusion, inpatient stays, and recovery — non-pharmacologic support for anxiety and pain-adjacent distress.

Pediatric / General

Live interventional music across pediatric and general hospital settings — a responsive bedside presence tailored to the patient and the room.
